Mother’s Day Portraits

May 13th, 2012

Today, I photographed such a fun family session!  What a better way to spend Mother’s Day than hugging your family =)

Near the family’s home, there is this fabulous restored farm, so we had great backdrops to work with.  And everyone was having a ton of fun, we even did a cheesy musical picture!  Here are my favorite images, enjoy!

Sunshine Bear

April 22nd, 2012

Little Sophia wrote the book on being a two year old.  She is vivacious, darling, funny, and full of energy.  She made me use all my funny voices and kept me on my toes the entire session, and I loved every minute.  The beauty of lifestyle portraits is that you get to be in your own home, around the things you love…and Sophia loves Care Bears.  She knows them all by name, their colors, everything.  So we made sure to get her favorite toys in some images as well.  Fortunately, Sophia has fantastic parents that encourage her personality to shine!

Here are my favorite images, get ready for the cuteness!

Ly and Lo

October 29th, 2011

Lyrah and Lorali are adorable little girls, and they had their portraits taken today.  We took advantage of some of the last fall colors, taking a walk and pausing for pictures.  Mom and Dad did a great job keeping things entertaining and we got some really fun pictures.  At the end of the session, we went back to the house to play with the girls’ new little kitten, such a couch full of cuteness!

Here are my favorite images, enjoy =)

Sweater Season

October 28th, 2011

Darling little Walter had his portrait session today. Last time I saw him, he was a brand new baby, and now he is so big! I love how he has his mom’s smile and his dad’s eyes. Bucky (the big brother) did well, too, but definitely couldn’t understand why we were paying so much attention to the little guy in the leaves =)

Walter had on two outfits that were so adorable and constantly wore a smile. And the park we were in had a perfect amount of fall color to work with as well…overall a great portrait session. Here are my favorites!

Chicago Family Portraits

October 26th, 2011

Whenever we travel to Chicago, we always have to visit our friends, the Paschkes.  Since Martha loves photography (we were in a college photography class together), we always make sure to have even five minutes for family pictures.  This time, Martha joined me at the engagement session in downtown Chicago while the dads had all six kids at the zoo.  Then we all went to a specific spot at the Morton Arboretum for family pictures.  Even Martha’s daughter has gotten into photography, so it was fun to climb trees and take pictures of each other.

With the leaves being gloriously yellow, the fact that we all wore purple really made the outfits pop.  Though six kids and four tired adults makes it tough to organize pictures, we managed to get quite a few good ones!  Here are my favorites, enjoy!

Fall Fun

October 20th, 2011

Today I photographed a wonderful family.  I first met little Finn when he was less than an hour old for his newborn portraits, and now he is a year!  It is amazing to see him all grown up and I like how he has dad’s eyes and mom’s smile.  Though it was pretty chilly and quite windy, we were able to reign the kids in for some pictures, and Danny provided plenty of comic relief.   I love how the photographs turned out!  Here are my favorites, enjoy!

American Family

October 19th, 2011

I love photographing this family.

1 – the kids have the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen

2 – they really like to be together

3 – they encourage creativity and fun in their family

4 – they let their kids be kids during portrait sessions

5 – Dani and Paul are still very much in love

After doing a few family portraits, we did a fun “real family portrait” that shows everyone at their current state of personality ; )  Then after that, the kids put on fun hats and played some sort of umbrella woods ninja reenactment…and they did it well.

Not only has this family survived having three children in six years, they also survived the Minneapolis tornado this year…they were literally in the middle of it!  Throughout all of life’s ups and downs, Dani and Paul have always managed to look on the bright side and are two of the most giving warm people I know.  Dani is a motivational speaker, head of a charity for Haiti, and avid blogger, you should check out her website!  http://danitietjen.com//blog

Leaves and Sun Flare

October 17th, 2011

Roee Dori is an exceptional photographer that moved to Minnesota from NYC last year.  I met him in the Independent Wedding Association and since we both have young families, we thought it would be fun to do a joint photo session.  Though it was extremely windy and we were dealing with four kids under 6, it went pretty well!  Roee’s wife and daughter are gorgeous, and they were a very easy family to photograph.  Here are my favorites =)

Blustery Energy

October 16th, 2011

This morning I met up with a family that just added a fourth little one into their brood.  Unfortunately the day was super windy…fortunately, this family was super cool and wanted pictures that showed their family in action.  In between gusts of wind, we were able to get some really great shots of the family and include their beloved city of St Paul in the images as well.

I was just really bummed the kids had zero personality…it was hard to photograph them as they were so calm and stoic ; )

All Smiles

October 12th, 2011

I first photographed Addison when she was a teeny newborn and now she is a big, happy, smiling, one year old!

She sure could cruise around and loved to play in the leaves.  We had a gorgeous overcast fall day and a happy baby…so the session was done in record time!  My favorite image is when I had Addison’s parents kiss and she responded with enthusiastic clapping =)

Here are my favorites, enjoy!
