Mad Men Maternity Session

April 28th, 2012

Stuart and Shannon had their pregnancy session today.  We decided to have this be one of our Hollywood Sessions…where we have professional makeup and hair, wardrobe, props and sets.  Shannon was made gorgeously early 60′s by Brett Dorrian Artistry Studios and the couple found clothing that reflected that time period.  They even found a baby name book from the early 60′s!

We came up with a storyline of a couple going for a drive and picnic before their little one is born.  Jeff owns a ’54 Bel Air and was gracious enough to let us use it in the pictures to really tell the narrative.  I liked using a mid 50′s car, it seemed like something a young couple would realistically own in the early 60′s…and it was gorgeous!  I also decided to do more photoshop than I normally do and applied a vintage look to a few of the images to make them look like faded photographs from another decade.

I love how the images turned out…and love that these two fabulous people are going to bring another fabulous person into the world!   Here are my favorites!

Baby Butter

March 4th, 2012

Joe and Jaclyn are literally about to have their second child any day now.  They have been calling him Baby Butter for months and it is so cute hearing big sister talk to her Butter.  We had a very cold afternoon to work with, but also some gorgeous light.  I love how the pictures turned out, here are my favorites!

Baby Love

August 31st, 2011

Mike and Stephanie had their pregnancy session tonight.

The gorgeous golden light was perfect for an evening walk in Loring Park.  Stephanie has about three weeks to go in her pregnancy and looks great!  Both she and Mike are quick to laugh (especially at each other) and I had such a good time hanging out with them.  I will admit, I made them stare awkwardly at each other as much as possible, because the laughter afterwards made such a great picture ; )

Mike and Stephanie, here are my favorite images, enjoy!  And have a healthy, happy delivery!

Yellow Duckies

September 26th, 2010

Laura had her baby shower today!

Since Laura and Mark are waiting until the baby is born to find out if they’re having a boy or girl, the theme of this shower was gender neutral yellow. And yellow it was! Yellow and ducks were all over, even a little floating duck in the punch.

The food was delish, and we played a fun game of baby Jeopardy. My team would have totally one if Team 2 hadn’t gotten the daily double…but I’m over it ;) I love all of the details at this party, Jaclyn didn’t leave one detail out, it was lovely.

Walk in the Park

September 13th, 2010

Tonight, I had a session with the adorable Miss Lyrah. She is also going to be a big sister soon, so we got some family and maternity portraits as well.

Lyrah has the most vibrant blue eyes I have ever seen and is such a darling girl. Her parents warned me that she would be hard to photograph because she is so active, but I think she liked the attention…she sat nice and still and did cute little smiles looking right at the camera…what a pro!

Fields of Gold

July 10th, 2010

Today I had a lovely session in Duluth. It was to document little Anaira as well as her soon-to-be-born little sister. Since all the subjects were a bit camera shy, we simply played and enjoyed the beautiful day.

I wanted to show both her relationship with her mom as an only child and her interest in the baby growing in mamma’s belly. We wanted to keep it innocent, fresh, and sweet, so the perfect location was Anaira’s own backyard which has a field of daisies and places to explore.

I love how these pictures turned out and I hope you do, too. And we’ll make sure to get pictures of the two little girls playing in the daisies next summer =) Here are my favorite images, enjoy!

Double Trouble =)

April 28th, 2010

Today I went to a client’s house for a joint session with a couple friends. The first half of the session was for pregnancy pictures, where the mom had her kids finger paint her belly! It was so adorable! And since dad is a luthier, we HAD to get some images of the kids playing guitar.

The second session was with an adorable pair of 6 month old twin girls. They were so smiley and cute! Mom put them in a bunch of adorable outfits and we had a fabulous time singing and making them laugh.

Here are my favorites of the session, enjoy!

The Art of Love

April 2nd, 2010

Since Paul is a graphic designer, I thought his family made the perfect choice to have their session at the Walker Art Center. I wanted to include some fun textures and energy in their images, and had a great time walking around the Walker, both inside and out, with the family.

Danielle is a super mom. Even at 8 months pregnant, she was throwing her boys in the air and was all smiles. In fact, this whole family was all smiles. It took no effort to get them to cuddle and goof around. There is such love between them, and it was a pleasure to document those relationships.

Here are my favorite images! I can’t wait to meet the new little one =)
