Casual Chic
Brynn had her senior portraits today.
She is on the swim team at Edina, and has a calm, low key personality. I wanted to portray that calm and casual attitude in her images, getting a balance of smiley ones as well. We had a good time walking around and talking about the colleges she is looking into and general life questions. Brynn’s sister is the fashionista and helped put together the outfits, and I think she did a fantastic job!

Retro Beauty
Hannah had her senior portrait session tonight.
Since Hannah lives in Lonsdale, we found a location half way between her and the cities…and though it was a wacky one (and one of my new favorite spaces to shoot) we made it work for us. Hannah has a ton of personality and is an America’s Next Top Model addict, so she was simply easy to photograph. I just let her do her thing while I clicked the shutter. We had the most perfect light and Hannah did a fabulous job on her hair and makeup, so I barely had to do any editing on the images at all. I turned a few into a vintage style to work with the sets we used during the session.

Lakefront Senior Portraits
Nicky had her senior portraits taken today.
Since she is a talented swimmer, I love that she chose a bit of a nautical theme, using blues and whites as her outfits. Nicky likes photography, which always makes things fun…I know to push the envelope a bit! She also loves to be active and it took no encouragement whatsoever to get her to climb trees.

Jonathan’s Senior Portraits
Today I met Jonathan downtown for his senior pictures. We had a harsh setting sun, which gave us fun shadows and sun flare to play with. Jonathan wanted images that weren’t typical senior pictures, so we looked for fun angles and textures to use as backdrops for some shots with more personality while still making sure to get some smiley images for Mom ; )

Tanner’s Senior Portraits
I met Tanner for his senior pictures yesterday. We lucked out because we avoided the rain and we had a few trees still full of brightly colored leaves. Tanner is such a nice guy and good looking to boot, and I love that he was ok with me experimenting with some shots. I think he could be in an ad for an upscale men’s label, don’t you think?

A Man With a Plan
Sam had his senior session today.
Sam has been involved in his high school’s government and wants to go to college near DC for political science. It was simply natural for John to take him to the St. Paul capitol for his portraits. John and Sam explored the exterior of the capitol, finding the good light, getting the dome in the background, and playing with shadows. Who knows, these could be pictures of a future President!

Smiles and Fun
Sarah had her senior portraits taken yesterday.
This was a truly enjoyable session. It was fun walking around in the golden sunshine and taking Sarah’s portraits and I love her sass and personality. We went to a few unusual locations, but it was so worth it! Sarah’s sister Katie even joined us for a few, which was a fun flashback to when I photographed Katie for her senior portraits. Sarah and Katie’s 2 year old golden retriever also got her portrait taken =)

Natural Beauty
Christie had her senior session today.
We had a wonderful time in and around the beautiful Minikahda Club taking pictures and discussing her college plans. Christie chose a very classic, sweet look for her pictures and I was a little surprised to find out she is also a stellar hockey player! She also has a million dollar smile and a very loving family, who joined us for a few pictures at the end of the session.

My Fair Lady
Alex had her senior session today.
We had two hours together, which meant we had the luxury of many outfit and location changes. Alex, her mom and I took a nice stroll around some of Minneapolis’ best photo locations and had a great time getting to know each other and taking advantage of the golden light. Alex has beautiful eyes and a graceful neck, she reminded me of Audrey Hepburn. Because of that, I was drawn to a more classical look along with some fashion forward poses (we had to show off her awesome outfits!) and the traditional senior portrait poses.
Since we had a two hour session, it was harder than normal to narrow down the favorites, but here they are! Enjoy!

Kyndra had her senior portraits today!
I had a fabulous time with Kyndra, her mom and sister as we walked around Minneapolis taking pictures. It was all too easy to find a gorgeous pool of light and take Kyndra’s portrait. For being a very down to earth and laughing young lady, she can sure rock the model stare =)
