Yesterday, the W Hotel Minneapolis – The Foshay, hosted a whiskey tasting event in their Prohibition Bar. Delightfully Mad Men in style, there were cigars, well dressed men with chic women on their arms, and many glasses of whiskey. John photographed this event, and really enjoyed finding creative angles and lighting situations in the space (as well as tasting the whiskey!). Here are my favorites, enjoy!
MN Meetings and Events – Best of 2011
Tonight, the magazine Minnesota Meetings + Events had their Best of 2011 event at the Cowles Center in Minneapolis.
I was very excited because Studio Laguna was up for Best Photography! It was such an honor to be chosen by our peers as a finalist. My friend Susan Austin, a fabulous photographer, went away with the prize, but it was fun to be acknowledged. There were some very excited groups of people taking home awards tonight and there was a festive vibe in the spring air. Though all of the nominees were excited to win, I think that the group from Common Roots Cafe were the most thrilled!
Three Sons Signature Cuisine passed around delicious appetizers and had a fondue buffet while Prom Catering served up signature cocktails to the guests. G.L.Berg Entertainment provided a retro jazz quartet that was fantastic to listen to, and Avex lit up the Cowles Center to show off the angles of the space. Overall, a very fun night! Here are a few images, enjoy!
David and Heidi
David and Heidi were married today!
It was no surprise to me that David and Heidi chose vibrant colors and fun details with modern flair for their wedding. Heidi is the definition of the word vibrant, and she and David love to enjoy life.
Today turned out to have fabulous weather, and we enjoyed location hopping in Sauk Rapids for wedding pictures. Since Heidi loves photography, we tried to find unique locations and use fun ideas for her images. The entire wedding party brought boots along that said something about their personality, and it was so fun taking that portrait (we had quite a few locals trying to figure out what we were doing, too!). The guys even managed a Taco Johns run, so the day was already a hit ; )
I really liked the design elements of the wedding day. It was pretty rock n’ roll, with feathers, bling, and design with personality…from the font on the programs to the floral arrangements. Heidi’s gown, from Bella Bridal, was so sparkly and lovely and she made her hairpiece, featuring jewelry from her great grandmother. The Flower Bed’s designs in pinks and oranges, stood out perfectly against the blue bridesmaid’s dresses.
The ceremony at Trinity Lutheran Church also had unique elements. The music choices in the ceremony were classical, but not the typical pieces that one would expect. And the guests gave the couple a sparkler send off. AND the ceremony had one of the cutest flower girls ever!
After the ceremony, things got a bit rowdy…we’ll just say that there are some pictures out there with a bride on a mechanical bull and leave it at that. We’ll also say that the party bus from The Fun Van lived up to its full potential.
With the sun starting to set, we took a few more images at Territory Golf Club before heading in for dinner. Many clinking of glasses and speeches later, the guests were enjoying cake from Cold Spring Bakery, goofing off in The Traveling Photo Booth, and were ready to dance. Dyer Sound Works played all the hits, and this crowd sure loved to party!
David and Heidi, thank you so much for having us be a part of your day. Enjoy your honeymoon in Belize!!!!! Here are our favorite images, we picked some fun ones for your sneak peek =)
Our Lovely Lyra
Lyra turns three this month, and we had a small family get together to celebrate. Her brother has told her that her favorite color is now red…and she agrees…so we had red balloons and punch, and Auntie made delicious cupcakes. Then of course we had to do a portrait session in the gorgeous sunset light. Here are pictures of our youngest, she has an amazing laugh, loves music, and is sweet, confident and bright. I can’t believe she is already THREE!!!!!
Manny’s Leadership Conference
A few times a year, Manny’s Steakhouse hosts a Leadership Conference. It is a classic boys club event. No utensils, bottomless glasses of whiskey (in honor of St Patty’s day the whiskey of choice was 2 Gingers), cigars rolled on site by International Cigars, and lots of great food. I’ve enjoyed photographing this event, and seeing some of the images go up on the wall of fame at Manny’s. Here are some of my favorite images, enjoy!
